Show PLANS MADE FOR "ARTS FESTIVAL" AT DLXIE COLLEGE An "Arts Festival" to be held next fall at Dixie college was planned at a joint meeting Saturday Sat-urday evening of the three fine art clubs of the school, Delta Phi Alpha, music; Lambda Beta Theta, literary; and the Beaux Art Guild. The plan was an outgrowth of the art exhibit and ball sponsored by the Beaux Art Guild last fall, whereby nearly three thousand dollars worth of fine paintings were placed on display at the college, one of them being purchased pur-chased by the proceeds of the ball. It was suggested by Earl J. Bleak, head of band and orchestra or-chestra at the college, that this be enlarged upon this next year, and be made a project of all three clubs. Tentative plans set the date at around the first of December and the duration three days, one day being devoted 'primarily to each of the three major arts. Townspeople Towns-people and students from other schools around the county will be invited to attend and participate, partici-pate, not from the standpoint of competition but just for enjoyment. enjoy-ment. Several activities, such as concerts, con-certs, lectures, debates, plays, or demonstrations will be carried on simultaneously throughout each day, and visitors and students can attend -those in which they1 are interested. In addition an art exhibit will be maintained for several weeks, an opera presented, presen-ted, and the last evening will feature a grand "Fine Arts Ball." The central executive committee, commit-tee, it was decided, will consist of four students, a chairman of the whole, for which position J. R. Lauristzen was chosen by acclamation, ac-clamation, and a chairman of each division, to be chosen by each club at its regular meeting. An advisory ifaculty committee will consist of the president of the college and three other members, mem-bers, one from each division, also to be selected by the clubs dndividuallly. Dr. D. Eldon Beck, faculty ad-; ad-; visor of the Beaux Art Guild, presided at the meeting, .which was held in the dining room at the science building. Refreshments Refresh-ments of cookies and ice cream were served. j |
