Show Woodward School Notes Mrs. Bradford's third grade Every Friday we have a reading circle. Our preident takes charge of our meeting and our secretary keeps the name of the story and who is reading it. Erlene Church is our president and Herbert Ben-tley Ben-tley our secretary. When it is warm we go out under the trees to read. We are all working for a reading record. Some of us have a good start and are going to try to keep it up. Our spelling is getting better every week. We are all trying to get 100 this week. Our book on motor transportation transpor-tation is nearly finished. Mr. Stucki's fifth grade The following poem was written by Klea Bleak, in honor of Admiral Byrd, who we are now studying, ing. The South Pole I often wonder in my dreams, If, the South Pole gets any sun beams, The South Pole is so far away, I wonder how long is their day. If there is a bird that lives there, How can he keep away from the bear? Miss Seegmiller's fifth grade We have finished studying Admiral Ad-miral Byrd. We have all our committees finished and we are going to invite Mr. Stucki's grade in to see our program tomorrow. We have been studying our tables to have a test with Mr. Stucki's grade. Our most outstanding out-standing students in tables now are Paul Seegmiller and Smith Carter. Next week we expect to have many more that can keep up with them. Mr Cannon's sixth grade The pupils of Mr. Cannon's sixth grade are getting ready for Hal-llowe'en Hal-llowe'en bv making funny masks They are also having each pupil bring a nickel and we will have a nice party. We hope to have manv funnv masks ready. We have about enough money now for the party. Eighth grade news The Junior Jun-ior High students of the Woodward Wood-ward school completed the election elec-tion of class officers last Friday, October IS, 1935, by ballot vote. The successful candidates were as follows: Edna Rae Gardner, president; Max Gentry, vice-president; Gertrude Worthen, secretary secre-tary and treasurer; Waldo Brooks, amusement leader; Gray Wilkins, athletic leader; STylva Snow, cheerleader. cheer-leader. With the exception of Sylva Snow, who is on the Mankiller ticket, all others are elected on the Tarantula ticket. Six students acted as judges of election. Everyone is well pleased with our new officers and hope to support them all we can. Aviation Week As a climax to the celebration of Aviation week in the Woodward school, the students gave a salute to the flag on the school campus last Friday, October 18, 1935. The salute was led by Milton Nelson and Ross Syphus. Following Fol-lowing which the third grade under un-der the direction of Miss Larson rendered a program in honor of our National Aviation Heroes. All students were then granted grant-ed permission to see the Dixie College Founders' Day parade. We returned to our school work. Marie Prisbrey, Edith Crosby, Woodward Reporters. |
