Show IWMMM) CARS IS OIUKCT OF I WESTERN CHEVROLET PLANT DIKING M "One hundred thousand cars in 1936!" With this as their slogan, mor-than mor-than tifty Chevrolet executives, led by Regional Manager K. M. Cha.-e, attended the national sales convention of Chevrolet Motor Mo-tor company, held October 14-16, 14-16, 1935. Simultaneously, large groups of Chevrolet executives also left Los Angeles, Portland, Salt Lake and Great Fails for Detroit. In all, more than one hundred fifty West Coast Chevrolet Chev-rolet men were present at the monster sales meeting, banquet, departmental sessions, and the actual ac-tual driving of the 1936 Chevrolet Chevro-let the the General Motors Proving Prov-ing Grounds at Milford, Michigan. Michi-gan. "Chevrolet is taking this large group of Pacilic Coast men into Detroit to pay tribute to them for their wonderful sales performance per-formance in 1935," said Mr. Chase. "This year, Chevrolet on the Pacific Coast will come within with-in a few thousand sales of equalling the greatest year in motor car history 1929. Next year we are shooting for 100,000 cars and trucks, which we believe be-lieve possible because of the excellent ex-cellent economic conditions prevailing pre-vailing on the Pacific Coast and in the State of Utah. "The Chevrolet dealers on the Pacific Coast have had one of the most prosperous years in their history. This region leads all other regions in dealer profits, pro-fits, in percentage of cars sold against quota, and also shows the greatest sales increase of any region in the nation. For the past two months, Chevrolet, in California, has led all competition in sales. The 1936 Chevrolet, which will be formally presented to the public on November 2 and which incorporates many advancements, advan-cements, both in design and engineering, en-gineering, should be the factor to enable us to maintain this leadership. 'Because of the construction work going on in Northern California, Cal-ifornia, and the fine crops , and generally buoyant air evident in the rural districts in Western states, we believe that 193 6 will be a banner year for our car and our dealers." Commenting on the ability of the Oakland Chevrolet plant to meet the anticipated demand, E. C. Shaw, plant manager, stated: "Chevrolet's great plant at' Oakland Oak-land has been completely retooled. retool-ed. The production per day of cars and trucks has been increased in-creased from 400 units to 500 units. This means that additional addition-al men will be employed at our Oakland plant and that payrolls will increase. The Oakland plant is in operation now, producing 193 6 Chevrolet cans and trucks. Plenty of cars will be on hand foi our November 2 announcement. "The schedule for the month of November calls for 10,397 cars and takes rank as the second sec-ond largest month's production schedule of the current year from the Oakland plant." |
