Show B. A. C. Downs Dixie 19 to 7 In College Football Game Sat. By scoring 2 touchdowns in the second and 1 in the third quarter and completing one try for point after touchdown, B. A. C. downed Dixie by the score of 19 to 7 in the first football game to be played by the college on the local field on Founders Day last Friday, October 18. Dixie's lone touchdown came as the result of a series of passes in the fourth quarter with Wade throwing and Price receiving the pass and running across for the score. Point after touchdown was made by placement kick. B. A. C. attempted to run the ball for the extra points but was only able to take it over one time out of three. A large crowd of towns people and students turned out to view the game, and from the spirit shown throughout the contest, it was evident that Dixie fans are going to take a keen delight in the sport. To many it was one of the few games of football that they had ever seen and naturally na-turally there was considerable about the game that was "Greek" to them. The biggest thrill of the game for local fans came when the scoring play worked in the last part of the game. Other outstanding out-standing plays were the runs by Stratton in the first quarter when he broke through for a long run, and a return of a punt by Wade when he ran up the north sideline side-line for a long return. Those who played the best ball for Dixie were: Captain Morris, Stratton, Strat-ton, Leavitt, Heaton and Boyer. These men were in there fighting all -of the- time -a:-.- save promise that with more experience they will give a good account of themselves. them-selves. Although there wasn't a box score kept of the game, there isn't any question but what B. A. C. had much the better of it (Continued on last page) ! FOOTBALL (Continued Irom first page) in yards and first downs. They showed that they had had more experience in running interference interfer-ence and- blocking. Dixie has been handicapped by not having enough men to run their plays against or to defend against the plays of the other team. Fan feel that Shields has done a fine job of coaching to have brought the team along as well as they are and they feel sure that with a little more experience they will not have to take a back seat to any of the teams in their class. Poor judgement on the part of the B. A. C. quarterback in call-I call-I ing for running plays on fourth : downs did much to help the local j team. Had B. A. C. kicked on i three or four occasions they would have had Dixie backed up ! against their own goal line a j lot more of the time. The way ' it was B. A. C. handed them the i ball near the middle of the field several times when they were unable un-able to pick up enough yards for a first down. Westminister Next i Westminister will be here this Saturday for a gam with the college col-lege team. The northern school has developed a fine team and ; will undoubtedly enter the game a favorite. However, with each game Dixie should show improvement improve-ment and a better game should be on tap. Some idea of the strength of the teams can be ascertained as-certained Friday when the Parsons Par-sons and B. A. C. tangle at '. Cedar. Playing Friday and then the next day here should slow the Parsons up some as a team is always plenty sore and stiff the day following a game. If Dixie ! makes as good a showing this |
