Show DIXIE COLLEGE The Founders' Day celebration was very successful. The program in the forenoon was well attended by the Founders, students, and patrons of the school, and about six hundred were present at the public barbecue wh;ch was held at twelve o'clock, noon. The football game with the B. A. C. which took place in the afternoon, after-noon, was won with a score of 19-7, for the B. A. C. Both teams displayed good sportsmanship sportsman-ship and excellent training, and the school band added to the entertainment. Last Thursday, the Overton High school played the return game with the Dixie High school team and the score was tied at 12 all. The tennis team, however, how-ever, was again successful in defeating the Overton team in all of the matches. Thursday, October 2 4, the faculty fac-ulty members of the school will leave for Salt Lake City' to attend at-tend the Teachers' Institute which is to be held there Thursday Thurs-day and Friday of this week. For this reason all class work will be suspended on Wednesday night ; until the next Monday. The second years held a dancing party Wednesday, October Octo-ber 23, in the basement of the tabernacle. There will be no regular assembly assem-bly held this week on account of the holiday Thursday and Friday, but Thursday, October 31, the student body will present annual Hallowe'en program. This is composed of some dancing number, directed by Fawn Schmutz, and a short play which is being given under the direction of the College Dramatic Art department. He is now communicating communi-cating with others who have had experience with flowers and their arrangement for shows. He is also trying to obtain a judge from Northern Utah. A second meeting of the flower show committee will be called soon, and detailed plans made. The date for the show has been set for November 7. About thirty members of the Home Economics club held their opening party last Thursday night in the Science building. Besides electing the following officers: President, Norma Webb; Vice-President, Evlyn Snow; Secretary Sec-retary and Treasurer, Berniece Harper; and Reporter, Adelia Hall, and outlining their plans for the winter, which will include in-clude club meetings every Wednesday Wed-nesday at 5 p.m. and a party once a month, games were played play-ed and everyone took part m an impromptu program. After delicious refreshments the party broke up with all mem-be mem-be re anticipating the next get-together get-together and glad they had joined join-ed the club. i7lMII - |
