Show WOODWARD SCHOOL At the beginning of the fourth week of school we find 6S1 Woodward Wood-ward students enjoying their ! school work. An increase of forty j since the opening day. Many new ' students from other placi are with us and we are glad to welcome wel-come them and hope they like our school. The teachers of the Woodward school ever mindful of making their winter's work more interesting, interest-ing, spent their vacation in broadening broad-ening their experiences and increasing in-creasing their knowledge by means of travel and study. Mr. Worthen, Mr. Snow, Mr. Frei. Mr. Neilson, Mr. Stucki, Miss Larson, Miss Sorenson, and Miss Hopkins visited the San Diego Exposition, Ex-position, and other points of interest in-terest in California and Nevada. Mrs. Wanda iSnow and Miss Nelson Nel-son traveled through the southern and eastern states, visiting some of the largest cities and many historical points. Mrs. Snow spent several days studying Indian life and the making of pottery in New Mexico. Miss Nelson also attended the Dedicatory Services at the Hill Cumorah. The following attended summer school:. Miss Cox, Miss Graff, Mr. Fordham. Mr. Worthen was also present at a secondary school convention con-vention at Alpin for one week. There were so many children who hurried and turned six years old, in order that they might go to school, that Mr. Moody decided to give them another teacher. We welcome Miss Mary Morris as that teacher. Twenty smiling faces entered kindergarten October 1, as their first step towards college. Miss Hopkins first grade We are going to make a house in our room. Monday we went to look at houses so we would know how to build our house. There are thirty-seven boys and girls in our first grade. Mrs. Bradford's third grade After a happy carefree summer we are glad to be back in school again. This year is so different. We have arithmetic, language, and spelling books. We also go to school all day. We' feel like we are big now. There are so many things we plan to do this winter We are studying motor transportation transpor-tation and we will all be able to tell you more about it next time. Miss Larson's third grade In Miss Larson's third grade there there forty boys and girls. There are nineteen girls" and twenty-one boys. In our room we have a very nice fish pond. It is painted green and blue. Our painters were Clyde Milne Albert Burgess and Bevalere Cox. They did tlreir work very nicely. We now have six beautiful gold fish living in our pond. Four of, them are large ones, but the other two are small. They are our little twinte. There are shells, a castle, and a frog in the pond. Miss Foremaster's fourth grade We are studying all about Columbus. Co-lumbus. One group has made up a play, another has made a map of the voyage which Columbus took, another has made a picture show, and another has made a frieze. We have been making maps showing North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Austrailia. We are very interested in what our countries sjiape is and we are also interested' in the shapes of the continents. Miss Seegmiller's fifth grade Our class is studying about Admiral Ad-miral Byrd's trips to the South" Pole. While studying we are doing do-ing several activities. Our school is divided in six committees, each committee ' is taking one activity. We are making a picture show, a sand table, a frieze, some booklets, book-lets, a border, some maps and a play. Mr. Stucki's fifth grade Our grade played the sixth grade in base ball last week. We were the winners of the game. Mr. Cannon's sixth grade The pupils of Mr. Cannon's sixth grade are very much interested in the sugar beet industry. They have divided the pupils into four different dif-ferent groups. The leader of the first is Ted Snow, second group, Ruby Seegmiller, third group, Ronald McArthur, fourth group, Marilyn Cox. We are planting beet seeds in our room, and also writing to different dif-ferent sugar beet industries. We are very proud of our work and hope to keep on.
