Show Kane, Washington 4-H Clubs Win First Place Honors at Fair For the first time in the history of 4-H club work in Kane and Washington counties representatives representa-tives won four first place honors and three second place ribbons at the state fair which Is being held in Salt Lake City during the week of September 28 to October 5. A boys' demonstration team, consisting of Earl Hafen and J. E. Seegmiller won first place with their demonstration of "Identification "Identifi-cation of Native Conifers of southern south-ern Utah." The judges report that this contest was won by a large margin, the boys being outstanding outstand-ing in their ability to handle the subject. They also won first place in the forestry identification contest, con-test, and the forestry exhibit from the club they belonged to won second place. The club will receive re-ceive a cash prize for this exhibit. A girls' demonstration team from a first year foods club in Kanab, consisting of Lorna Little and Madge Henderson won first place with a demonstration of "Fruits in Unusual Ways for Breakfast." Though this is the first year of club work in Kane county, these girls were very much at home as demonstrators. They received the honors sought by every club in the state. Miss Rhoda Cannon won second place in the style dresis revue. Miss Joyce Rich of Utah county won first place and will be given a trip to Chicago through the courtesy of Chicago mail order. The second year foods exhibit sent from the St. George club led by D e o 1 a Seegmiller won first place. This club will be awarded a cash prize. ." ...
