Show RITES ARE HELD FOR SOUTHERN UTAH PIONEER Cedar City, Dec. 31. The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Carpenter, 72, was held in the tabernacle Thursday afternoon. af-ternoon. The speakers were John Smith, Herbert Webster, Bishop F. B. Wood, and President E. H. Snow of St. George. Music was by Bishop E. M. Corry, Mrs. Hazel Granger, Mrs. Helen Foster, Prof. W. H. Manning and the Cedar City choir. Mrs. Carpenter was one of the pioneers pion-eers of southern Utah, coming here when a child, and living at Glendale and St. George, later moving to Cedar Ced-ar City. She was the daughter of Samuel Judd and the wife of James D. Carpenter who died a number of years ago. Surviving children are: Mrs. James Smith, John D. and Samuel Carpenter and Mrs. J. M. Smith, brother. Joseph Judd, Manti; a sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Elizabeth Delmer, Skull Valley. Arizona. Deseret News. |
