Show by Clayton Prince Approximately fifty members of the vocational agriculture class were present at the first meeting meet-ing of the Dixie Chapter F. F. A. The meeting was held Monday Mon-day at ten o'clock. Darwin Gubler, president of the chapter, explained the purpose pur-pose of the F. F. A. organization, organiza-tion, the significance of the motto mot-to and symbol, and briefly summarized sum-marized last year's activities which were climaxed by a trip of thirty vocational agriculture boys to Logan, Utah, to attend the State Convention of Future Farmers of America. He also outlined the schedule for the activities ac-tivities of the current year. These include judging contests, chapter parties, hikes, and athletic contests con-tests with Hurricane and other neighboring F. F. A. chapters. The enrollment in agriculture is slightly less than double that of last year. Plans were discussed for the scene of the summer outing trip which will climax this year's activities. Although not definitely defin-itely decided upon, Yosemite National Na-tional Park, near San Francisco, or Yellowstone National Park seems to be the place which more of the boys desire to visit. If Mr. Paxman's ten o'clock biology club was wondering as to the source of the terrible noises they heard Monday, it might relieve them to know that it was the diligent effort of fifty F. F. A. boys to sing the Dixie College Song and the Smith-Hughes" Smith-Hughes" Song. However, had they given close attention, they would have heard some real music mu-sic as Edgar Beachuni gave a harmonica selection. |
