Show WOODWARD SCHOOL College Third Grade Friday, Paul Thompson brought a beautiful beau-tiful spray of apple blossoms to school. On Tuesday, we' had a visitor to school. Vernon Short brought his young Chinese Pheasant. They saved the Pheasant from drowning in an irrigation ditch. It is' very tame and follows his people around the house. It seemed very happy In our school. Miss Atkins Fifth Grade Our Nature Work Our class has been trying to ! find names of all the trees that j grow in southern Utah. We gathered the leaves and seed j of many of these trees. After ! we had pressed them we mount- ea mem wiu them hanging on the blackboard. One morning Elwyn Culver brought us specimans of yellow pine, white 'pine, creeping juniper, juni-per, white fir, manzanita brush, limber pine, red cedar, and the Douglas fir. We think we have a nice collection. Come and see it. . wte have a library in our room. The second week of school the students made themselves them-selves library cards. We then chose a librarian. We have a new one each week. The first librarian was Ramona Hafen, the second one was Evelyn Nelson, and for this week we have Kathleen Kath-leen Thomas. The librarian checks each book that Is taken out and we are allowed to keep each book two days. To join the Utah Reading circle we must read sixteen books during the year. We are all trying to join the Reading circle. |
