Love, Jr., vice-president and Washington county director Of the Associated Civic clubs,' returned re-turned from the Salt Lake meeting meet-ing of the clubs with the information infor-mation that E. P. Pectol, Wayne county director, who is also one of the Utah River and Harbor board appointed by the National government, had told them that this Utah board was anxious to secure all available information on possible flood control projects on tributaries to the Colorado River. This information is required re-quired as the government realizes that something will have to be done to control the silt tnat tnis stream and it tributaries carry or it will be only a few years before the silt will fill in behind the dam. In order to secure this data, a meeting was called on Monday a'fternoon in the court house with representatives present from the County commissioneers, Washington Washing-ton County Planning board. Chamber of Commerce, county officers and representatives from the various communities of the county. Laron Andrus, county cleark and George H. Lytle, chairman of the county commissioneers, told the information that they had acquired in Salt Lake relative to the problems that are facing the county. C. W. Love, Jr., gave a short talk on the information that the Civic clubs were desirous desir-ous of gathering. This data is to be delivered by Mr. Love at the next meeting of the club which will be held in the next three weeks. Jos. J. Milne, president of the Washington County Planning board, listed the following projects pro-jects as the ones that would most likely interest the state board. The Dixie Dairying and Development project ; Santa Clara river and Pine Valley reservoirs reser-voirs at the head of the Black ridge and a series of reservoirs and dams on north Ash creek; three or four reservoirs on the Leeds creek; water conservation on the Big creek on Kolob; reservoir res-ervoir on Quail creek; raise the dam for the St. George and Washington Canal project; Quail creek reservoir for watering Purgatory Pur-gatory flat; storage of waters to be used on Dameron valley; controlling con-trolling of the Virgin river as nearly every settlement located on this river has asked for this relief. Woodruff Cannon, county sur-SContinuod sur-SContinuod on page five) PROJECTS LISTED (Continued from first page) veyor, stated that estimates would lie necessary for these different projects. Most of these, he declared, de-clared, had already been surveyed survey-ed at a previous time and he believed that it would be possible pos-sible to secure the necessary info-, mation which had been on (Ho. in some case?, since 1 0 1 A . After some discussion it was decided to give this information to all of the suite officers so that it would be available to them should they decide that any of them came under their particular departments. The information was also brought out that projects that-had that-had already been approved and granted, such as the St. Georcre water works program and the building o.' school buildings, should not be listed as there would be great danger of losing . them or at least delaying their grants. A motion was mads that "he information that Mr. Love wanted want-ed be tn-'ijd over to him and that he ee that it was presented to the Associated Civic clubs at thei,- net;; lv.rru':1!- meeting ,-e-I qu:?-fc-d by the Clv.h". |
