Show Mew swimming classes ft begin Monday av pool A synchronized swimming program for beginners through advanced performers per-formers will begin Monday, July 14 at 4 p.m., in the Vernal Swimming Pool. Synchronized swimming or water ballet combines swimming skills and dance into a sort of drill team in the water. Melanie Oscarson and Colette Sweatfield will be the directors of the program. Melanie has been involved in all types of swimming programs and has been employed at the Vernal Pool since it opened. Colette has been involved in-volved in water programs and was on a synchronized swimming team at Ricks College. People interested in the program will be required to pass a swimming test and will have to know several different strokes. The cost will be $20 for the first month and $15 for each additional month. Preparations are being made for an October water show and thus a three month commitment is needed. An advanced lifesaving class will begin on Monday, July 14. People are eligible for the class if they have passed their fifteenth birthday, are in sound physical condition and if they can- meet the preliminary swimming test qualifications. The class will run from 4 to 6 p.m. during weekdays through July 25. After the course is completed, individuals will have their Red Cross lifesaving certification and will bp qualified lo he a lifeguard. |
