The new hospital facility will cost the county more than $3.5 million and has nal Rotary Club. The dedication ceremony will begin with a flag raising by the Vernal Seventh Ward cub scouts. Uintah County Commissioner Roland Merkley will speak, followed by Dr. Paul Stringham, chief of medical staff. Joe Merino, chairman of the Hospital Board will speak, and the dedicatory prayer will be given by Rep. Gayle McKeachnie. Starene Bingham, March of Dime Marathon poster child will perform the ribbon cutting. The dedication will be on the Northwest side of the new hospital, said Mark Ethington, assistant hospital administrator. ad-ministrator. An open house will follow the dedication with guided tours and refreshments provided by the Pink Ladies. The open house will conclude at 4 p.m. The new facility will boost the square footage from 28,000 sq. ft. in the previous hospital facility to 41,000 sq. ft. in the new; not including rest home and basement portions. Since the ground breaking ceremonies Sept. 14, 1978, the hospital construction has had many delays. The original project foreman, Barry Ames, died before construction was completed and Lynn Stevenson was appointed foreman. Subcontractors for the outside of the building include Allen Construction, masonry, SLC; Tech-Steel, structural and miscellaneous steel Clearfield: Ortega Roofing, built-up roof, Pleasant Grove, Utah; and Dinalnnd Ilea ting-and ting-and Air Conditioning, sheetmetal and gutter, Vernal.
