Show Eleven named to BLAA citizen advisory council Appointments of 11 Basin residents to a citizen advisory council to the Bureau of Land Management were announced last week by Secretary of the Interior Cecil D. Andrus, according to Gary J. Wicks, BLM state director for Utah. The Secretary called on the members to carry out their advisory responsibilities respon-sibilities from the "highest public-interest public-interest perspective, and as a representative of that interest, rather than any narrower perspectives." He asked them to "give your district manager your best advice as he seeks to be a good steward of the land, a good neighbor and a good public servant." The council members were appointed by the Secretary upon the recommendation recom-mendation of the district managers and State Director Wicks, with the con--concurrence of BLM national Director Frank Gregg. They will serve through 1981. Members will not be paid, but rather will contribute their time as a public service. The council will meet at the request of the district manager, normally four times a year. The new district advisory council is the successor to the district multiple use advisory board which was long employed by the Bureau.
