' Meetings set for proposed pipeline A series of workshop meetings to hear the public's views and concerns on a proposed small diameter pipeline from near Rock Springs. Wyoming to near Seminole. Texas, has been scheduled for August in Wyoming, t'tah. Colorado, and New Mexico. The workshops, termed scoping sessions, will be conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) who will prepare an environmental impact statement on the proposed project. The Vernal meeting will be held August 80 at the BLM District Office. 170 South 500 East from 3 to 8 p.m. Each meeting will be conducted as an "open house" which will allow the public the opportunity to meet with BLM personnel, look at maps of the proposal, suggest alternatives, impacts of construction, operation, maintenance, main-tenance, and eventual abandonment of the pipeline and offer comments on how these impacts may be minimuzed or avoided. The pipeline would be built by MAPCO (formally Mid-America Pipeline Company. Inc.). It would transport natural gas by-products such as butane, propane, and other liquid hydrocarbons from processing plants in Wyoming. Utah, and Colorado to West Texas for distribution. The pipeline would be about 1.200 miles long and would parallel existing pipelines lor most of the route. |
