Show Dutch John 1 June Schaffran , I D.J. helicopter dispatched to Idaho fire The Dutch John Forest Service helicopter was dispatched Saturday to a project fire in Idaho. Craig Perkins, James Glen and Wilson Morgan, members of the Dutch John Fire Crew were also sent to help man the Shiprock . Fire. Bill Cumrriings, also of Dutch John Fire Crew, was sent to the Shanty Town Fire on the Humbolt National Forest in Nevada. Forest Service of ficials warn campers and tourists in the area that our fire danger rating is Extremely High and to please be careful with fires. Sunday, August 5, the temperature rose to a record 97 degrees. This was the highest temperature recorded in eleven years. The low for the same day was 63 degrees, with the low for the week being 52. Thursday evening. August 9, at 9 p.m. at the Bootleg (Firefighters Memorial) Amphitheater there will be a program entitled "Beauty of the Beasts." Then on Saturday, August 11. the following programs will be presented; "Homestead History" at 9 p.m. at the Mustang Amphitheater, "In Quest of the Green River" at 9 p.m. at the Lucerne Amphitheater, and "Holsters and Hideouts" at 9 p.m. at the Bootleg Amphitheater. On Tuesday, August 14, "Homestead History" will show again at 9 at the Lucerne Amphitheater. On Wednesday, August 15, "A Visit with Smokey the Bear" will be seen at the Lodgepole Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. and "Backpacking & Wilderness Survival" will be seen at the Bootleg Amphitheater at 9 p.m. Bruce and Jackie Schmidt have returned ,from vacation. While gone, they visited with Jackie's sister and her husband, Dean and Cheryl Harbold in Laguna Beach, California. Bruce and ' his brother-in-law , Dean, floated the Colorado River thru the Grand Canyon. Karen Cowden and Wanda Collett traveled to Park City, Utah last Friday and Saturday for the Art Festival. They also stopped in Provo to visit Wanda's sister, Wendy Wardell. |
