However, the Vernal team refused to give up even though they were one loss away from ! elimination as they won seven games in a row on Sunday to capture the first place title. The Western Company team toppled the Optical Shop from Grand Junction, J 2? to 2, and downed Grand Vu from Moab, 10-4, Saturday. Weber Trucking oowned Western Company, 9-8, in a hard fought game. Western Company dropped into the losers' bracket, Sunday, and downed I Seibu Karate of Grand Junction, 22-6 I anUowned Texas Gulf of Grand Junction, 13-4. The Vernal team 1 thumped Ultronix of Grand Junction, I 1H and thumped Bi-Co of Grand 1 Junction, 15-7, after falling behind 5-0 wly in the game. Weber Trucking, the only team that beat us, didn't place in the tourney. We came from behind in four games." Smuin added, "KayLyn Hacking turned in a good performance with the stick against Seibu Karate, batting 5 for 5. Kim Buckalew also turned in a good performance on the mound as she won four games. Julie Hacking was the most valuable player in- the tourney. and Diane Workman had the most hits. Diane was 24 for 35 in the tourney. She had a .685 batting average."
