Show Ballard town presented final bldg. blueprints BALLARD-Meeting of the Ballard Town Council held July 26 saw Councilman Coun-cilman Jess Miller present the final blueprints for the new Town-County building. Bids on the building will be opened at 2 p.m., August 15th in the commissioners room, at the Uintah County Courthouse in Vernal. It was decided the 10 acres of land, ' donated to the Town of Ballard and Uintah county by Dr. Morrow, needs to be surveyed and fenced before construction con-struction work begins. The Ballard Water Improvement District will furnish a hook-up to the building and a two-inch water line installed from the six-inch line on the south of the building site. A revenue sharing check of $4,834 was received by the council. It will be placed in trust with the Uintah County Treasurer and used with the other revenue sharing funds for construction of the new building. Gerald Mitchell was appointed by the council to represent the Town of Ballard at an educational meeting in regards to the new Utah State laws concerning annexations "by 'cities and towns, and sponsored by the League of Cities and Towns. The meeting will be held at Park City, Utah. The Town Council directed that a payment of $157 be made to the Basin Insurance Agency for bonding for the mayor and town council. Mayor Karl Shisler reported that the option agreement to purchase 72 acres of ground from Dale Sornson had been exercised and the abstract of title for the property was now under review. A letter from the Utah State Dept. of Transportation in regards to a semaphore at the junction of Highway 40 and the old Airport Road was read. The location will be further monitored for traffic density and flow. Earl Murphy, water maintainance supervisor, reported that the pressure maintainance valve on the main water storage reservoir is malfunctioning. Contacts will be made with a trained technician to correct the problem. |
