Show Alley Cat or "Purrsion" can win a Morris Some people can trace their ancestory back to the Revolutionary War-they are eligible for DAR or SAR membership. Some felines .can't trace their ancestry back past their mother, they are eligible for the Morris award. The Morris award is a 14 inch golden bronze trophy awarded to the best Household Pet in cat shows nationwide. The Uintah County 4-H and Youth Cat Show to be held Friday at the Vernal Junior High School gymnasium will be awarding a Morris award trophy to the winning cat. The Morris award was created by Nine-Lives Cat Food in honor of their finicky feline Superstar, Morris. The trophy was designed by the creators of the Hollywood Oscar. In addition to the Morris award, the Uintah County show will present rosette ribbons and trophies and awards from the'local merchants to the top 15 cats in the show. The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 10. All 4-H and Youth under the age of 19 are eligible to enter. Entries En-tries will be taken from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Judging will begin at 9 a.m. No entries en-tries will be accepted after judging begins. Special awards will be given for the best decorated single and double cages. The show theme is "I qzy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Cats". Regardless of decor, all cages must be covered on top, bottom and three sides for protection of the cats and owners. Special educational materials will be available free of charge from the Animal Assistance Society of Salt Lake City; Vernal Animal Control officer Jack Lent and the 4-H Cat program.
