Show Jan. Meetings Mark Activity For Sorority Members of Alpha Upsilon Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, held two regular meetings during January, the first of which was held in the home of Mrs. Vana Hart, with Mrs. Ailene Nielsen in charge of the interesting program on history of music which led into a history of opera with Mrs. Nielsen playing several sever-al selections from favorite operas. The social committee announced an-nounced that plans were bJ-ing bJ-ing formulated for the annual an-nual Sweetheart Valentine Ball with definite announcements announce-ments to be made at the next meeting. The second meeting for the month was held in the home of Mrs. Vivian Arthur Ar-thur with Mrs. Ailene Nielsen Niel-sen as her co-hostess. The evening's program was given giv-en by a guest, Mrs. Lana Bacon who gave a brief talk on "Dance" and what it can do for an individual, both for pleasure and health reasons. rea-sons. Mrs. Bacon answered nr'.r.v questions and members mem-bers were enthusiastic about dar.ee possibilities for the group. The Valentine Ball has been scheduled for Feb. 7th in the Moab National Bank executive room with Alpha Upsilon joining with Exemplar Exem-plar for this annual social event. Queens will be crown ed following the catered dinner din-ner and cocktail hour. Nominees Nom-inees for queen were made on the basis of congeniality and general friendliness with winners being kept secret until un-til the night of the ball when they will be crowned by - last year's Queens. Two guests in addition to Mrs. Bacon were present, Mrs. Ginger Mulville and Mrs. Mary Graves and the group invited them to join the chapter. chap-ter. Rushing is about to begin be-gin in Beta Sigma Phi and sorority members were urged urg-ed to submit names to the membership committee for further perusal and rushing. Meetings were both adjourned adjourn-ed and followed by refreshments refresh-ments served by the hostess |
