Show This District Will Lose One Judge ' A report on the state of The various judicial district in Utah was received b) perk Barbara Do'menick iecently. This report indicated that while most of the districts are understaffed and that f-.ve additional judges are needed, the Seventh Judicial District, that one encompassing encompas-sing Moab presently has a 'surplus. The report stated that only one Judge was needed to serve this area and that upon the rcsigna- tion, death, or expiration of term of either one of the two judges now serving trje area no replacement would be made. The report also presented a schedule which compared salaries of judges in other western states to that of Utah. The findings indicated indicat-ed that Utah, although salines sal-ines were not correspondingly correspond-ingly low, paid the lowest per capita amount for judicial judi-cial salaries at 35.3 cents per capita. Only in Hawaii, however how-ever was the total number of people served by each judge higher than the 49,000 persons per judge here in Utah. |
