Show Fans Braved Cold VJeather j For First Car Races Despite cold and windy weather conditions race fans turned out and cheered their favorite cars on in the first stock car race of the season Sunday, March 20. Trophy dash winners were B class, Tommy Lammert, Moab and A class Darie Roehm, Grand Junction, Colo. Von Edwards, Roosevelt; Merv Lawton, Moab; and Ron Berry, Grand Junction, took first place positions in the Heat Races with Von Edwards Ed-wards winning the semi-main and Ron Berry taking the main. The next race meet will be Sunday, April 3. Time trials ; will be at 1 p.m. and races ' begin at 2 p.m. LaSal Oil and Chewy's 76 Union will be sponsoring the race. Officials of the track would like to thank the many people who turned out for the opener with a special thanks to Gaither Chevrolet for sponsoring spon-soring that race. Many out of town cars are expected to return for the race Sunday. The track is in excellent condition and racing should be very exciting. Tues- i day, April 5 will be the j regular meeting of the As- ( sociation and all interested j persons are invited to attend. , The meeting will be held in , the courthouse courtroom at 7 p.m. |
