Show Wafer Resources Board Meets Here April 7 th The Utah State Board of Water resources will hold a regular meeting in Moab on Thursday, April 7, and at that tone they will tour and discuss the Mill Creek Water Project with officials of the Grand County Water Conservancy District Dis-trict Board. District Board Chairman K. E. Mc-Dougald Mc-Dougald stated that it is hoped that the State Board, following a tour of the project site and a review of plans, will take action on the Water Conservancy District's application for funds to be loaned from the Division of Water Resources revolving fund. The Board will arrive in Moab shortly before lunch, and following a luncheon at the SunDowner Restaurant, they will tour the project lands in upper Spanish Valley. A formal board meeting will be held here from 2:30 to 6 p.m., and then the Board will be hosted at dinner at the SunDowner by the Moab group. The Mill Creek Project is planned currently to divert waters from Mill Creek into Upper Spanish Valley, where they will be stored in a reservoir and used for irrigation; for culinary and other uses. The project will be done in conjunction with a stream channeling project of the U.S. Corps of Engineers to reduce the flooding hazard in Mill Creek through Moab Valley, and also in conjunction with a well water development develop-ment in Moab Valley to assure the rights of water users in the lower part of the valley. Funding is being sought from a number of agencies, in addition to the interest-free loan application from the Utah Board of Water Resources. |
