' MEDICAL CLINIC NOTES Nurse practitioner Sue Allen Al-len announces that if enough blood donors can be signed up, the Red Cross Blood Bank from Moab will come up May 1 and set up a Blood Bank for that day. It is hoped to get about thirty people who will participate, and plans and appointments will be firmed up if there is enough interest. Mrs. Allen asks that you call in right away if you will donate. Cancer Clinic has been set for April 27. This will be the first time that the examination examina-tion is free, and it will be held at the Medical Center. Every woman in town should be checked, and Mrs. Allen expressed ex-pressed the hope that most of them will come in. Mrs. Sue Allen and her daughter Amber are leaving the first of next week for a motor trip to the Grand Canyon and California. They will be gone a week. Dr. Hooker will come down from Provo for Thursday and Friday, Fri-day, and Dr. Peters will be here his regular day, Tuesday. TEENAGERS VISIT Mrs. Grace Peterson entertained enter-tained 11 young people from the colleges on the Wasatch Front over the weekend. The students were friends of her granddaughter, Terri Jo Peterson, Pet-erson, and they were from Dugway Proving Ground, although al-though most of them are in college in Logan, Ogden and Salt Lake City. The group has sung together for several years, and has made one trip to Green River before. They sang one song during the Sunday morning services at the Community Church, and entertained that evening with songs and skits before returning home. Grace states that she enjoyed them thoroughly, thor-oughly, and while there were wall-to-wall sleeping bags both upstairs and down, when they left, the house was immaculate, with the boys helping to put things back together as much as the girls did. GREEN RIVER 4-H NEWS There will be a 4-H Council meeting, Wednesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Bookcliff Elementary School. If each club leader and 2-3 representatives could be present, pres-ent, it would be most appreciated. appreci-ated. The council will vote on officers for the year, discuss Community Pride and 4-H Camp, and talk about this year's 4-H plans and activi-ites. FIRE DEPARTMENT The Green River fire Dept. held its monthly meeting on Feb. 16. Among matters of business was the election of officers. Only two new officers were elected. The rest remained re-mained in their positions for one more year. With a welcome home to fireman Bruce Riches, the firemen voted him in as the captian and Jesse Powell as Public Relations Officer. Bruce Riches just returned from a 2 year LDS mission in Japan. Prior to his mission Bruce served on the fire dept. Two members were released re-leased from the dept. and one new member accepted. The new member is trooper Steve Rapich of the Utah Highway Patrol. Trooper Rapich has accepted assignment in Green River replacing Gary Gunrud. Trooper Gunrud also served on the fire dept. while he lived in Green River. The fire dept. has been selling smoke alarms and still has some in stock. Anyone interested in buying one may do so by contacting any of the officers of the dept. The officers include, Chief Howard Burnett, Asst. Chief, Jess Dennis, Captain Bruce Riches, Ambulance Lt. Clark Riches, Firetruck Lt. Dennis Martyn, secretary and treasurer treas-urer Jessie Ekker, Public Relations Officer Jesse Powell. |
