Show Local government agency named to compile part of coal environmental report After a lot of complaining about the lack of local input on the environmental impact statement, the Southeastern Utah Association of Governments was commissioned to do a part of the Central Coal EIS for the Department of Interior. According to SEUAOG Executive Execu-tive Director Bill Dinehart, "Our part is that section which deals with people, the local economy and local government. We have collected all the numbers and outlined some of the possibilities, but we need to know what the public really thinks and feels about growth and growth-related problems." To get the public views, the SEUAOG has scheduled open public meetings in the following places: March 1, Grand County, Grand County Courthouse; March 2, Emery County, Emery County Courthouse; and March 3, Carbon County, Price City Hall, Room 7. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. so that the working public can be heard. Dinehart urged, "If you have an opinion and want it heard, now is the time to speak up." Do you want more growth in your towns? What are the problems in health care? How do you see the housing situation in your area? What do we need in the way of improved roads and highways? These and similar questions are yours to answer, he said. "If you have complaints, comments or suggestions, that you've made to your friends, now is the time to have them heard by the system," he concluded. |
