Show White Rim roads in tough shape Canyonlands National Park officials announced last week that the White Rim jeep road on the Green River side is closed. A rock slide near the boundary has completely blocked the road, making it impassible to all vehicles. National Park Service crews are presently assessing the damage and hope to have it opened before Easter. Caution Cau-tion should also be exercised on the Mineral Canyon Dug-way Dug-way which is presently very slick and dangerous due to melting snow and ice. This leaves the Potash road as the only means of access to the White Rim area. Rock slides can occur at anytime during the spring thawing season. Visitors should take extra precautions and carry extra fuel, food and water to be prepared for unexpected events. |
