Show No More Open Burning In Moab, According To Fire Chief Black There will be no more open burning in the fire district this season, announced Fire Chief Troy Black this week, unless there is a fire truck at the site of the burning. Black explained the fire season has been closed in an effort to "preserve some of the vegetation around," noting that the fire hazard is high because of the extreme dry weather. He also said that those who use barrels outside for rubbish burning should be encouraged to put screens over them to prevent flying sparks and drifting ashes. Anyone who needs to do some open burning is asked to contact Troy Black, Robin Donoghue or Dick Buehler to arrange to have a fire truck on hand. |
