Show Middle School Undergoing Remodeling The Grand County Board of Education has accepted two bids from Key Construction of Moab for major remodeling remodel-ing and capital improvements for the Middle School and Vocational Center at Grand County High School. The remodeling project at the Middle School is the third and final phase of a planned three-year program to upgrade facilities at this 43 year old building. During the last two summers all classrooms at the Middle School were remodeled with the exception of those facilities which were constructed during the 1967-1968 school year. Key Construction's bid of $65,308 was the only bid received for the remodeling of the four main corridors. The bid covers ::ew floor coverings, painting, new -,; itir;;, additional lockers and resurfacing resurfac-ing ot walls and ceilings. The bid was within the anticipated budget limitations. Key Construction was the low bidder at $12,706 for a storage facility at the Vocational Center. This building will be used by the Industrial Arts Program to store student projects during their construction phase and building materials materi-als used in the over-all building trades program. A five-year capital outlay improvement program was presented to the Board of Education by the Superintendent during their regular meeting in January, however, because of inflation and budget priority factors, only the items mentioned above will be bid at this time. The building principals are preparing regular summer maintenance items, painting needs and site improvement J programs which are to be completed during the summer recess, in addition to the major bids accepted by the Board of Education. The two major items bid by Key Construction are to be completed before the beginning of the regular school year, Wednesday, August 24, 1977. |
