Show Grand High School Gains Good fAarhs After Accreditation Inspection Grand County High School has been informed by the Utah State Board of Education that it had been "Approved with Comment" by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges during its Annual Convention in Portland recently. Joyce Hansen, accreditation specialist special-ist for the State Board, told Principal Theron Johnson that he was to be commended for the quality of his school program as reflected by the report. Some observations made by members of the Committee follow: "There is a broad course offering, nearly double that required. The Availability of courses through Utah State University adds considerably to the opportunities for students in the school. The effort being given to the develop ment of a reading program is commended commend-ed "The student-counselor ratio meets the standard. "Under Standard IV, Instructional Media, some additional books are recommended. "AH teachers are properly certificated. certif-icated. "There are two teachers with a slightly excessive class load and one teacher with more than six hours of instruction per day." The letter concluded: "You, your staff, your students, and your board of education are commended for the program offered at Grand High School and for the continuous improvements being made." |
