Show Siwll Completes Second Utah Discovery Well Shell Oil Company has completed a Uintah County oil discovery flowing 71 barrels of oil and 52,000 cubic feet of gas daily notes Carlton Stowe, Utah Geological and Mineral Survey specialist. Shell's well is the No. 1-8-A1E Ute in section 8, township 1 south, range le, about five miles west of La Point, just north of Fort Duchesne. Shell found oil production from a zone 9,927 to 10,428 feet. It was drilled to a total depth of 14,500 feet. The discovery is some four miles east of the nearest producing well on the northeast north-east side of the Bluebell field. It is Shell's second discovery in Uintah County this year... The No. 1-20-B2E Meagher Trust, about 10 miles southeast south-east of the new discovery and east of Fort Duchesne, flowed 60 barrels of oil and 122,000 cubic feet of gas per day from a depth of 11,220 feet. Additional drilling in both areas is planned. Mr. Stowe reports this week that the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Lands is offering 89 tracts of land containing 67,642 acres for oil, gas and hydrocarbon leasing, plus 30 tracts containing 21,354 acres for oil shale leasing. The sale will be by sealed bid which the State Land Office will open at 10:00 a.m., June 30. Lands offered are scattered within 13 counties of the State. |
