Jake Garn(R-Ut.), "Dumbfounded" by a recent newspaper account of U.S. Park Service plans to close national park concessions, today telephoned the Park Service for a clarification of its plan. Sen. Gam said he was amazed at a newspaper article which quoted a Park Service spokesman as saying, "We don't particularly care what Congress has said recently, we rely on our organic act." "That statement indicated to me a bureaucracy that is out of control," Senator Gam said. He said that when he called for clarification or confirmation confirma-tion of the statement, the Chief of Media Information for the Park Service told him the Park Service has been "grossly "gross-ly misquoted".
