Show I Challenging Set of College Courses Avaits Piloabites During Julv Seven short-range classes have been scheduled to operate in July through the f Utah State University Center for Continuing Education in Moab. it was announced this week by Dr. H.K. Hancock. Center Director. All but one of the classes will be for college credit, and all will run for periods of only a few days. Scheduled this month, and registration is now open at the Center, are the following courses: Artistic Glassblowing. This class is a non-credit course, and will run from July 7 to 11. During the days that the class is running, demonstrations of ( the Glassblower's Art will be i held in the downtown area. ' This class is open to people of all ages. An 140. Basic Photography. This 3 hour course, w hich runs from July 7 to 18, covers the operation of cameras and camera equipment, exposure and developing of black and white film, elementary enlarging enlarg-ing and finishing. Composition and photo esthetics will be .. stressed, Dr. Hancock stated. Art 120, Basic Drawing, is also a 3 hour class, and will i run from July 14 to 25. This i course gives the student an introduction to the visual language of drawing, the graphic elements, the various drawing media and creative problems involved. English 104, Practice in Composition. This 2 hour class runs from July 14 to 18. Emphasis is on basic writing skills in terms of their incorporation in original compositions. com-positions. Music 167, Group Guitar Instruction. This 1 hour course w ill run from July 21 to August 1. It covers basics, including terminology, visual and aural perception, chords, seconds, etc. Psychology 375, Improving Personal Reading Efficiency. This course is for 3 hours of college credit, and runs from July 28 to Aug. 1. This course is designed to help adults improve their reading methods. meth-ods. Work on improving organization and comprehension comprehen-sion skills is covered. Speed variations to accommodate difficulty of material are stressed. Secondary Education 620, Middle School Jr. High Curriculum. This 3 hour course has not been set for a specific date as yet. Registration Registra-tion will determine when the class will run. The course will cover new developments in curriculum design for schools incorporating the conventional sixth, seventh and eighth years of the public school system, functions, organization organiza-tion and curriculum are considered. This course should be of particular interest to persons who will be invovled in the final conversion to the middle school concept in Grand County School District this coming school year, and to parents w ho would like to find out more about just w hat the change means, educationally. Information regarding specifics speci-fics about the course can be gained from the S.U.C.C.E. office on Center Street. Dr. Hancock stressed that persons interested in taking courses do not have to have a high school diploma. Art classes and the non-credit course are open to people of all ages. The summer classes can be taken by veterans to fulfill requirements of GI Educational Educa-tional programs.
