Show New Garbage Collection Svsfem Sei for LaSals This season the Manti-LaSal Manti-LaSal National Forest will start an Honor Cleanup System throughout through-out the Forest. This system sys-tem will be similar to honor systems on the Wasatch, Uinta, and several sev-eral other National Forests For-ests in Utah. Under the new system, garbage cans will be removed re-moved from, individual camp units and placed in centralized locations within the campground. The public isbeingasked to participate by placing any garbage or refuse in the nearest can. It is anticipated that by working work-ing together the big task of garbage collection will be decreased. This will release more time and money to be spent elsewhere else-where in the campgrounds. camp-grounds. Many garbage cans are located outside the campgrounds and are difficult to service because be-cause of their distance and numbers. These cans will be moved to locations loca-tions at major road junctions junc-tions and recreationists are requested to deposit their refuse at these locations lo-cations in the cans or take it home with them. The tremendous increase in-crease in the number of recreation visitors in the last few years along with the reduced funds makes this type of a program necessary. Each Forest visitor can help by using their grocery boxes and bags for carrying garbage gar-bage to the refuse deposit de-posit point. The Moab Ranger District Dis-trict will be working on centralizing the location of garbage cans on the LaSal Mountains during the next few weeks. |
