Show Larry Rohrig Top Cowboys -Coming Here For Rodeo Denver, Colo. --Some of the top cowboys in professional rodeo plan to enter the Canyonlands rodeo in Moab, the Rodeo Cowboys Association said. Among them is Larry Rohrig of Rifle, Colo., who won the bull riding event last summer at the famous Cheyenne Frontier Fron-tier Days rodeo. Rohrig, a past contestant contes-tant at Moab, will have his work cut out for him when he tangles with one of D.A. "Swanny" Ker-by's Ker-by's bulls at the rodeo. Last year only one rider managed to stay atop his bull for the required eight seconds. Performances, set for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, June 8-9, will be held at the Grand County rodeo grounds. Events will include bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding, calf roping rop-ing and steer wrestling. Cowboys will add their $20 entry fees to a $1,000 purse for the total prize money again this year. Last year at the rodeo, with 68 entries, prize money was $2,313. This was part of the nearly $4.5 million won that year at 567 association-sanctioned association-sanctioned rodeos. Entries for the rodeo close at 6 p.m. Thursday, Thurs-day, June 7. |
