Show Moab Marine Wins Honors In California Local Moab Marine, PFC John Michael Barrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Barrett, 378 Opal Ave., graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Training on Sept. 13. Mike graduated as Platoon Honor-man Honor-man and fell one point shy of becoming the series Hon-orman Hon-orman at graduation ceremonies ceremon-ies held aboard the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at San Diego, Calif. To earn such title, a man must compete with 70 other recruits in the case of Platoon Pla-toon Honorman and with approximately ap-proximately 280 other recruits re-cruits for series Honorman in such activities as rifle marksmanship, physical fitness, fit-ness, academic subjects, military mi-litary subjects, personal appearance, ap-pearance, leadership abilit- . ies and many others. Mike was also meritoriously meritorious-ly promoted to his present-rank. present-rank. Upon completion of his ten day leave, Mike will report re-port to Camp Pendleton, Calif., to attend basic administration admin-istration school. Mike has indicated in-dicated he might pursue a career in the Marine Corps. He is a 1972 graduate of Grand County High School. |
