The Moab course can be easily reached by traveling South from Moab City past Moab Lanes to Holyoak Lane, where a sign directs you eastward. At the first major intersection inter-section turn right. Refreshments are available at the Pro Shop and after finishing the first three holes, your play will bring you back to the shop for a quick beer or soda pop before going on to finish the last six holes. Also available at Canyonlands is the $18 Grand Tour which includes all of the $9.50 flight plus coverage of the Green River drainage, Upheaval Dome, the Land of Standing Rocks, White Rim, and many other features. Other flights cover the fantastic Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Rainbow Bridge National Monument and other areas in Southeastern Utah and Arizona. V--''U . .-. .. ..,.,. , Combination of Tours Available From Mitch Williams' Tag-A-Long Float the Colorado River in a rubber raft for one day or four with Tag-A-Long Tours, headquatered in Moab. Daily trips leave each morning at 9 a.m. from the Tag-A-Long headquarters head-quarters on North Main. Passengers for the day-long trip travel 22 miles up the Colorado River before putting their boat into the water. The trip begins near Fisher Towers and a series of seven rapids provides an exciting trip. Plenty of smooth water allows enough time during the day for a refreshing water fight and the trip is recommended for the entire family. Cost for the outing is $15 per person with kids under 12 half price. Special irates are available for groups of 20 or more. For those who have tried the short one-day trip or who are anxious for more excitement, there are trips on the Colorado Colo-rado River through Cataract Canyon with the Ganddaddies of all rapids and through Westwater Canyon, which has only been open to commercial navigation for a few years. . The Westwater trip encompasses 3 days and is offered June through September. The river surprises all who journey into the depths of its wilderness. Messages from the ancient past can be found written on the canyon walls and the roar of white water echoes from the sheer rock canyon face. Traveling' - through Cataract Canyon is one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime. Towering Canyon walls and spectacular rapids make the journey an awesome experience. exper-ience. Two days of calm water allow the visitor to enjoy some of the world's greatest scenery. Below the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, you enter Cataract Canyon and for the next two days shoot the rapids through many miles of white water. At the end of this run you enter Lake Powell and proceed to Hite where the river trip ends. For those who wish to continue their trip, 4 wheel drive vehicles are available to take you into the heart of Caoyonlands for another three days of adventure. That stillness is broken suddenly by the roar of thunder and a burst of l'.ght and Canyonlands by Night sound and light spectacular begins. You travel about 4 miles up the Colorado River just before be-fore dark and examine the rock walls that surround you. Your host discusses your surroundings beneath a canopy of warm summer evening twilight. Shadows and narrated voice accompanied accom-panied by inspiring drama begin to relate the wonderful story of the scenes belore you. Started six years ago by Welton B. "Skinny" Winn, Canyonlands Canyon-lands by Night has become one of the most enjoyed trips in the area which can be enjoyed by all members of the family. The journey upriver starts just before dark at the Colorado River bridge just north of Moab. Winn has mastered the art of illuminating scenic areas with 40,000 watts of power mounted on a special truck which coordinates with the boat. You may enjoy Southeast Utah's magnificent red cliffs in daylight; but it is hard to describe how they come alive under controlled illumination after dark. Canyonlands by Night is unique. There is nothing else like it anywhere. No place is there a combination of fantastic cffs and quiet river to combine into such a magnificent story o Southeastern Utah. The Canyonlands by Night tour leaves nightly about a half hour after sundown. When the afternoon sun disappears behind the Western hill and leaves downtown Moab in shadow, you should leave for the dock. Cost of the excursion is a very reasonable $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. A 10 per cent discount is offered for groups of 15 or more couples. ' Although days and nights in Moab are warm, the air temperature on the river is quite cool and visitors are advised to bring a light jacket. Red Rock cliffs are just a short distance from the campground for evening exploring. Within only a few miles of KOA, visitors may enjoy a ride on Moab's Slick Rock Bike Trail which is administered by the Bureau of Land' Management; travel through rugged canyons where only 4-wheel drive vehicles or horses can go; ride the Colorado River rapids or enjoy a trip on the only paddlewheel river boat west of the Mississippi Missis-sippi River; or enjoy many scenic sights from the comfort of your passenger car. Just over 50 large, well-maintained sites are available at KOA to accommodate the traveler. Although there are now spaces for tent camping, a secluded section is under construction construc-tion which will be used exclusively for tents. Completion is set for early this summer.
