Show 1 Senate OK's Moss Bill On Wcstwater Canyon A measure directing the Federal Bureau of Outdoor Recreation to make a study o? a 36 mile stretch of the Colorado River through West-water West-water Canyon for possible inclusion in the National Wild ar.d Scenic Rivers System was passed Tuesday by unanimous unan-imous vote in the U. S. Senate. Sen-ate. Four land and recreation bills, all sponsored by Sen. Frank E .Moss, D-Utah, were approved at the session. The others include a feasibility study on inclusion of the Lone Peak area near Salt Lake City in the national wilderness wilder-ness preservation system; an authorization for acquisition acquisi-tion of up to 3,000 acres of non-federally owned lands in the Mill Creek and Big and Little Cottonwood area for inclusion in tht Wasatch National Na-tional Forest; and an authorization auth-orization for acquisition of watershed lands of the middle mid-dle fork of the Ogden River which lie within boundaries of Cache National Forest. Sen. Moss expressed delight de-light at the Senate action, but was dubious about action in the House of Representatives Representa-tives this session because ol the approaching adjournment of Congress. |
