Earlier work in the room included wood paneling and new draperies. Literary Club Promoting Nursing Home Issue Members of the Woman's Wo-man's Literary Club of Moab have worked steadily stead-ily over the past two years ago to see that the proposal for construction construc-tion of a nursing home in Grand County is put before the voters, however how-ever their first involvement involve-ment in nursing home projects started long before be-fore this. In 1959, Mrs. Essie Bailey and Ila Corbin were appointed from the club to go to Monticello to meet with the Commissioners Com-missioners of San Juan County relative to gaining gain-ing construction of a nursing home there to serve the needs of both counties. They worked with San Juan County and the Blanding Nursing home was constructed some years later. About two years ago, the women agreed that the same type of facility was needed for Grand County and they selected this as theirgeneral project pro-ject for competition in the General Federation Women's Clubs civic improvement im-provement contest. As a result of the interest of the club, two members mem-bers of the organization have been appointed to serve on the Nursing Home Board, Esther Ha 1 la and Jen Pope. Women in the organization organi-zation have staled that it is their goal to see a well constructed facility facil-ity which will serve the needs of this County now and in the future. In the event the club wins one of the prizes in the civic improvement contest next year, they will be awarded up to $10,000 which will, then be given to help in payment pay-ment of the project. |
