Show County Engineer Meeting Planned In Salt Lake Governor Calvin L. Ramp-ton Ramp-ton has designated September Septem-ber 21-27 as Highway week. Gathering of the American Road Builders Association, County Division Convention to be held September 21- 25 at Hotel Utah, will bring together to-gether 600 county engineers from around the country. A series of special events incident to this week are as follows: Opening of the new Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University Diagonal Diag-onal September 19. This extends ex-tends from the completed access road from 1-15 at 12th South, Orem, to U. S. Highway High-way 91. The diagonal will continue southeasterly to U. S. 189, just north of the BYU football stadium. Switching on lights September Sep-tember 25 for 1-80 between 1-15 and Parleys Interchange. Inter-change. The switching - on ceremony is to be at 1:30 p. m. It will be followed by a tour of the uncompleted portion por-tion of the Belt Route. Gathering of the American Road Builders Association at Hotel Utah. Other sections of Interstate Intersta-te Highway due for completion, com-pletion, probably in the fall, are to be opened. These include in-clude 1-215, the Belt Route, Parleys Interchange to 4G;h -South; 1-80 from Coalville to Echo Junction; 1-15 from 31st St., Ogden, northerly to Hot Springs; and 1-80 from Wendover to Knowles. A ceremony also is planned plan-ned for November, jointly with Idaho residents and officials. of-ficials. This will make the opening of 1 8l'N from Snow-ville. Snow-ville. Box Elder County, to Malta. Idaho. I-80N from Malta to Burley already is completed. Governor Rampton pointed point-ed out that modern highways are planned to encourage industry, in-dustry, commerce and residential resi-dential development, and to preserve and make accessible accessi-ble places of scenic, historic and recreational importance.
