MARYLAND VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tooker, parents of Pete Tooker's visited here last week. VISITS SOUTHERN UTAH Mr. and Mrs. Bob Crawford and daughter Kelly from Salt Lake City, spent the three-day holiday visiting the southern Utah parks and Page. GETS ELK Ray Sherrill, Joe Bates and Bob Scott hunted elk near Hayden, Colorado, where they visited Bob's family. The group . was successful in getting a couple of the big animals. SCHOOL NEWS The undefeated GRHS Girls Volleyball team travels to East Carbon on Thursday this week for their first meeting with the Vikings. Game time is 7 p.m. In action on their home court on Wed. Oct. 20, the Pirates beat the Tabiona team in two straight sets. The High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Salter, will meet members of the Community Progress Judging Committee at the Green River airport on Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. The purchase of new band uniforms was one of the projects the town has accomplished during the past two years, and the judges are coming back for a second review. The Senior Class is sponsoring sponsor-ing the Walt Disney movie, "Apple Dumpling Gang" in the High School gym at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28. Prices are $2.00 for adults, $1.50 for grades 7 through 12, $1.00 for grades K through 6, 50c for pre-schoolers, and under 3 admitted free. Green River Secondary Back to School Night is being planned for Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the school gym around the theme "Machines and Teaching Teach-ing Today's Children." All parents and patrons of the school are urged to attend. HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL The Halloween Carnival sponsored by Student Council will be hald on Friday, Oct. 29. It will be in the high school gym from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be a wide variety of entertainments consisting of a spaghetti dinner in the lunchroom, games, spook alley, al-ley, photo booth and baked goods for sale. After all this takes place, a sock hop will form. Due to the fact that the elementary grades didn't want to participate, there will be no costume parade. EARNS MASTERS DEGREE Richard S. Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse S. Wilson of Hatch, Utah, has been awarded a Masters of Education Educat-ion in the field of Secondary School Administration from Brigham Young University. Commencement services were held Aug. 13. Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Southern Utah State College of Cedar City in 1967 with an English Major and a minor in Spanish. Richard is employed by the Seminaries and Institutes of the LDS Church and is presently teaching his fifth year in the St. George South Seminary. He has taught five years in the Green River Seminary and High School. He is married to Carolyn Nelson of Green River, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Nelson, Green River. They have six children: Laurie, Debra, Liline, Stephen, Ste-phen, Sylvia and Janet. |
