Cutler this morning asking that 'Samuel Newhouse be appointed a trna-, ! tee of the Agricultural college board. The following in a copy of the petition presented: .' ; "To nil Excelenpy', Hon. John C. Cutler, Governor of Utah. ' 1 ' "Dear Sir Your petitioners, residents resi-dents of the State of Utah, respectfully' represent -; 1 'That Mr. Samnel Newhouse of Salt -1 r ' - ' Lake City, a distinguished citizen and gentleman, by his- expression In public ' and private, has demonstrated a friendly friend-ly spirit and interest in the Agricultural College , of Utah, and, ... ...... "That by reason of his popularity and influence as a man of great affairs, who has attained success almost phenomenal phe-nomenal in ' the business and financial word, and, . .. . 1 "That'Mr. Newhouse, -having signified signi-fied a willingness to give his valuable time in the interests of the college if appointed a member of 'the Board of Trustees; "Now, therefore, your petitioners most earnestly urge upon and request your excellency to appoint the said Samuel Newhouse a 'member of : the. Board of Trustees' of the Agricultural College, of Utah, and by this act of your excellency demonstrate to the friends and lovers of the college that you are interested in the growth and advancement of this, institution and that you have respect for the expressed wishes of your petitioners herein Bet forth- "Hsrrv S.
