Show HIGGINS FINALLY LOSES HIS BATTLE AGAINST DISEASE OLE AN, N". Y., Feb. 18. Former Got. Frank W. Hirein died t 8:40 o'clock lut night. He remained unconscious to the last, death coming in its most peaceful form and free from pain. Mr. Higgina for years had been afflicted af-flicted with heart trouble. After he entered upon his work as Governor he was warned by physicians of a serious organic difficulty in the heart, but no effort was relaxed and no duty left unperformed un-performed which Mr. Higjrina believed essential to the faithful discharge of the trust reposed in him by the people. When the only omoial duty which remained re-mained wu to assist in the inauguration inaugura-tion of his successor as Governor, he (Irmly resisted the importnnitiea of his family, his friends ana his physician to ppare" himself, and went to Albany to take part in the ceremonies. This last act hastened his death bv precipitating symptoms which otherwise might have Deen forestalled. |
