Show FIVE BOYS DEAD IN ASYLUM FIRE AUGUSTA, Ga Dec. 18 W-Five W-Five youths were burned to death when fire swept a reconditioned barn used as temporary dormitory dormi-tory at the Georgia State School for Feeble-Minded Children near : Gracewood, a few jnllea from Au gusta, early today. Dr. E. H. Schwall, superintendent superintend-ent of the school, said the dead were: Floyd Lyttle, 15, of Savannah. Hoyt Cook, IS, of Atlanta. William Youmans, 22, of Val- dosta. Curtis Sergeant, 17, of Gainesville, Gaines-ville, Ga. Curwood Creech, age unknown, f Augusta. Injured critically were Nathaniel Nathan-iel Peters of Decatur and William McMlchael, address unavailable. Bodies of four of the dead were recovered. Dr. Schwall said the fire started start-ed In a linen room on the first floor of the dormitory, which also Is used as tthe school's laundry. There were 24 boys In the dorml- tory, he said, and several escaped by sliding down outside piping, hll- nlhrs jumped f'-'y The flames were discovered about 1 :30 a. m. |
