Two fishing trawlers and the 487-ton steamer Serenity were lost in raids that Included attacks on other merchant ships Acknowledgment of the air raid losses followed a British admiralty announcement that a submarine had penetrated German defenses at the mouth of the River Elbe and sunk a 6000-ton German cruiser. (Germany reported four British merchantmen had been sunk and three warships damaged in the raids yesterday. Loss of a nazi cruiser was denied by German officials.) |
