Smith, first counselor in the church presiding bishopric and secretary-treasurer of station KSL. said hearings on the application are expected to be held at Washington this week. Sylvester Q. Cannon, presiding bishop, now in the east, and representatives repre-sentatives of KSL will attend the hearings in the Interest of the church. Mr. Smith said the station would be operated in conjunction with KSL, would be church controlled and owned and would require expenditure ex-penditure for new equipment. He was unable to estimate cost at this time. "The purpose of the proposed station sta-tion is to broadcast church messages, mes-sages, news and business to reach the rest of the United States and other nations where there are members mem-bers " Mr. Smith said. "With this station, we would be able to broadcast general conferences confer-ences without Interfering with local broadcasts." |
