KILL 3 UTAHf IS OVER WEEKEND Man and Woman Are Victims of Vernal Highway Smash Week-end traffic accidents in Utah and Uintah county Monday Mon-day had added three names to the state's rapidly mounting highway death toll. Shiner, received only cuts and bruises In the Spanish Fork crash when the men fell out of their automobile auto-mobile during a double collision with two trucks coming from the opposite direction. Driver Last Oaatral Deputy Sheriffs W. T. Lewis and Reuben Christianson, who investigated, investi-gated, said LsVal. the driver, evidently evi-dently lost control of the machine while coming down a hill near Old Tucker, in Spanish Fork canyon. The small car first collided with a truck driven by Alton Carter, Provo. The left front tire blew out and the car swerved into the path of the second truck, driven by Paul Jenk'ns of Orangeville. The elder Shiner fell out on the south side of the machine, receiving a fractured skull. His son fell out on the opposite side and was only bruised and cut. They were taken to the hospital at Price, where D. Shiner died Monday Mon-day at 8 a. m. He was an employe of the Columbia Fuel company at Columbia, in Carbon county. Mrs. Richlns was killed instantly and Jenkins died shortly after being be-ing taken to a hospital at Vernal, of Injuries received in an accident IS miles from Vernal on U. S. highway high-way No. 40. Milton Hacking. 41. of Vernal, suffered bruises and severe shock. Hugh Johnson. 40; Orville Richins. 17. son of the dead woman, and Kenneth Mowery, It, escaped injuries. in-juries. All six persons were occupants of a light truck driven by Mr. Mowery Mow-ery when it crashed into the parked car of Joseph Horrocks. A coroner's jury found the accident acci-dent "unavoidable." - Mrs. Richins was born in Vernal, a daughter of Charles and Martha Haslem Holmes. Surviving are four daughters.
