'U. Students Plan Utah Crime Survey Eight students majoring In sociology sociol-ogy at the University of Utah will make research studies of the crime , problems of Salt Lake and UUh for ' term reports, it was announced Saturday Sat-urday by Dr. Owen F. Beal, acting head ot the sociology department Their reports will be filed in the department of sociology office at the university and will be available as reference material for future atudies. Some of the subjects they s will cover are: Scientific methods of t criminal detection used by the Salt Lake police, women in the police departments de-partments of UUh; the criminal and the penal Institutions in UUh, and several case studies of convicts in the UUh sUte prison. Dr. Beal will'supervlse the work. He say that the material In the pa- pers should be valuable because some ' ot the reports will cover problems that have not been extensively studied.
