Show MATRIMONY'S COMMANDMENTS. ' This decalogue studied out by Theodore Theo-dore Parker shortly, before his marriage mar-riage is a bit of silver but the test of time alone can stamp It 'sterling": Life would be "One long sweet song" if we were all as good on January 2nd as we resolved to be on January 1st. Good resolutions are only creditable In direct proportion to our courage In keeping them. Mrs. Parker will be happy unless un-less she Lb harder to please than a woman wo-man should be, and If her husband lives Up to his ideal, it would almost seem he would be better than a man could be. They are as follows: 1. Never, except for the b st reasons, to oppose my wife's will. 2. To discharge all duties for her sakei freely. 3. Never to scold. 4. Never Nev-er to look cross at her. 6. Never to worry her with commandment. 6. To promote her piety. 7. To bear her burdens. bur-dens. 8. To overlook her foibles. . To save, cherish and forever defend her. 10. To remember her always in my prayers. Thus, God willing, we shall be blessed. |
