Show IMPORTANT LEGISLATION Bills Introduced Which Vitally Affect Business Conditions. Although the session of the House yesterday afternoon was brief, a number num-ber of Important hjlls were Introduced, some of which should they become laws V would cause a shaking up in local business bus-iness circles. Of this nature is the measure introduced intro-duced by Representative Cahoon of Murray. Its passage will carry some radical changes in the present liquor law, as it forbids any one person, firm or corporation, from receiving more than pne license for the sale of liquor. The 'bill also provides for local option, giving a majority of the voters in any voting precinct power to prevent the granting of a license and it contains a very thorough regulation prohibiting the sale of liquor on Sunday. Referred to Committee on Manufactures and Commerce. D. Condon of Weber introduced Joint resolution No. 3, which is intended to memoralize the Congress of the United States requesting that immediate action ac-tion be taken for the withdrawal from sale or disposition of all public lands, the chief of "which consists of coal, and for the enactment of laws providing for the opening and operation of coal mines by the Government of the United States. The resolution was referred to the Committee Com-mittee .on Federal Relations and Memorials. Me-morials. Representative Evans of Summit introduced in-troduced House bill No. 9, which Is a provision , intended to amend the law providing for the election of "certain officers of-ficers in cities and towns and making the office of Chief of Police in all cities appointive instead of elective. The Judiciary Ju-diciary committee will consider it. . , A bill to extend the maximum school age from 18 to 21 years was introduced by Charles Brink of Salt Lake. He is of the opinion that young people marry too early and believes that to permit them to reirin in school xmtil 21 would tend to remedy this condition. The. next session of both branches of the Legislature will be at 2 o'clock Monday Mon-day afternoon. |
