Show GOVERNMENT ADOPTS AGENT MYTON'S POLICY MaJ. H. P. My ton, Indian agent for the combined Uintah and Uncompah-gre Uncompah-gre reservations, arrived last night, and is at the Knutsford. The Major has advocated a new policy for some time In his administration, recommending that the greater part of the appropriated appropri-ated fund and interest accruing be devoted de-voted to Improvement of the consolidated consoli-dated reservations. In accordance with his suggestions, he was ordered to buy what was deemed necessary for the carrying out of his ideas, with the result that twenty-one wagons have been ordered, the material for twenty houses, besides 6000 pounds of alfalfa seed. The expenditure of this part of the appropriation will reduce the amount of money usually put direct in the hands of the Indians, and which heretofore here-tofore has not been devoted to permanent perma-nent improvements. - MaJ. Myton will remain here until Monday. |
